Hello everyone from the art classroom! My name is Harry Caldwell. I’m the new PreK-12 art teacher. I'm very excited to be here and have really enjoyed getting to know everyone so far. I wanted to introduce myself to the Minerva Central School community. I grew up in Bolton Landing and, while attending Bolton Central School, I really formed a fundamental relationship with many teachers. I really enjoyed that time there because of those teachers and their impact on my path as a student and now adult. My hope is that my presence here can have a similar impact for the Minerva students.

My experience as an artist and art educator is rooted in the ceramic and pottery craft. My background is within ceramics but I’m no stranger to other artistic mediums as well. I have run my own pottery business, Caldwell Clayworks, off and on for the past ten years which has given me much discipline in the craft. I have also traveled to various parts of the world to participate in artist residencies and apprenticeships. Developing my own craft has given me insight on the world of art in a practical way. I think it's important for students to see the many practical applications the arts have within the world around us.

It’s so exciting to work with students in this creative classroom! I plan to involve each student in the idea generation process for projects, mediums and class day to day. The result is to provide a classroom environment much like an artist studio with teachers and students working side by side. If students feel inspired as artists, the outcomes can be infinite and very creative! Feel free to come down and say hello, I’m still getting to know all the teachers and students here. I appreciate everyone's kind welcomes to this special place.
