Bus Driver Position

Minerva Central School is currently accepting applications for a Custodian/Bus Driver. The position is immediately available. School bus drivers need to meet the following license requirements: a CDL Class B License with Passenger Endorsement and School Bus Endorsement. The district is willing to offer paid training to the right candidate. Health, dental, vision, and retirement benefits are available.

Automotive Mechanic/Bus Driver 

Minerva Central School is accepting applications for a full-time Automotive Mechanic/Bus Driver. Minimum qualifications include two (2) years of experience as a skilled automotive repairman. Candidates need to be eligible for an appropriate New York State driver's license; have possession of a license at the time of appointment and must maintain the license throughout the term of employment. Additional licensing required for school bus drivers: a CDL class B license with passenger endorsement and School Bus Endorsement. Bus license training would be provided by Minerva Central School District.

Applicant must have a thorough knowledge of standard automotive repair methods and of the terminology and tools of the trade; demonstrated ability to make difficult repairs to heavy automotive and other mechanical equipment; familiarity with welding techniques; ability to work from plans and specifications and to follow rough draft sketches and oral instructions; good motor and hand-eye coordination; manual dexterity; good physical condition.

Typical work activities are performing skilled operations in the repair and overhaul of gasoline and diesel motor equipment, including trucks, tractors, and buses; repairing or replacing motor pumps, fuel pumps, generators, carburetors, and shock absorbers; repairing ignition systems, transmissions, brake systems, clutches, and front and rear axles; adjusting connecting rods and bearings; adjusting steering mechanisms and aligns wheels; making minor welding repairs to automotive equipment; greasing vehicles, changing oil and oil filters; tuning engines and sets the timing; attaching and removing snowplow blades and other auxiliary equipment; bodywork repair; operate a school bus on an assigned route.

This is a 12-month position and the district is willing to offer paid training to the right candidate. Health, dental, vision, and retirement benefits are available.
